Day at the Ranch
Saturday, the Hudkins family invited us out to their family ranch, and boy did we have a good time. We are so thankful for good friends and the fellowship we get to have.
The kids were walking along the stone ledge and picking berries out of the tall grass. Cari asked the kids to come back in the mowed area so they didn't get chiggers and the other item (cow poo) was what Lauren was carrying in her hand. I don't think she had any idea that it was cow poo. I think Hayden and Grant only ate "one" berry. Lets hope so anyways. They really enjoyed the ledge and picking berries. Maybe I just need to put a ledge in the back yard and an nonpoisonous berry plant and let them play. Maybe they will stay contained in one area for a while. Do you think?

Our new taxi driver...
We were driving around the Ranch trying to find the cows and horses, and Shane thought it would be fun to let Hayden drive since he LOVES cars so much. Surprisingly he did really well. He would turn the wheel and everything. It was pretty cool. He is one smart little cookie when it comes to "boy" stuff. I think he might be ready for a bigger power wheels for Christmas. *hint hint*. He already gets frustrated that his 4 wheeler goes so slow. LOL!
Buddies
"Father Abraham..." The boys had such a great time walking bath and forth along the stone ledge. Hayden kept singing "Here come the Dinosaurs marching, marching". He learned that song at school, and is always singing it. He loves to march and sing. It has been so much fun watching Hayden and Grant grow up together. Their birthdays are only 7 days apart and I expect they will be good buddies in the future. At least I hope so. We love the Hudkins family, and I look forward to watching the kids friendships blossom. Does that even make sense? I don't know.
Bedtime Stories
While the adults were trying to get the Ranch House cleaned up so we could all head back home the kids read bible stories to each other. Priceless. It was so adorable. I loved listening to Hannah and Lauren telling the stories to each other. They might not be able to read yet, but they sure know exactly what the story is about.
Smores
I think one of the best part about camping are sitting around a campfire, singing songs and roasting marshmallows for some Yummy Smores!
I think between the ones we "allowed" him to have and the ones he stole, Hayden had 3 or 4 smores, and about 4 or 5 EXTRA marshmallows. Maybe that was why it was 9:30 before he went to bed and 15 minutes from the house. LOL.

Pumpkin Painting 2009
It is that time of year again!! Friday night we met Mimi and Uncle Tim at Cotton Patch in Granbury for dinner. We had a yummy meal thanks to Mimi and then the kids got all kinds of goodies. (Pumpkin baskets, pumpkins to paint, stickers, some science books, and telescopes that Papa bought for them), The kids love getting to paint pumpkins. So tonight we corralled outside in the garage and painted pumpkins. Actually, Shane and I played a little ball while they painted. I think about every 3 throws we had to go help the girls because Hayden kept painting on their pumpkins or on them. It was fun, but bath time was not. Hayden was covered head to toe in paint and he did not want to take a bath. Ugh - boys!!! We are ready for the holidays to begin.

Todays (9-24) Conversation
On our way home today from getting FREE chick fil a sandwiches, Hailey noticed a shopping center sign that had one empty sign slot. She started asking questions about why it was empty and when they put one there do they continue to add more and make it bigger?
I explained to her that it was empty because one of the stores was for lease. When someone decided to lease the spot out and use it for their business, then they would put the name of their business on the sign slot.
She then says, "mommy when I get older if the spot is still there I am going to buy it and work there."
I said "oh really, what kind of business are you going to have?"
Hailey- "I am going to have a beauty shop. I can paint nails and put on peoples makeup. I am going to live with you and daddy and go to work everyday. I will tell you goodbye and leave for work. My kids can stay with you and daddy while I go to work"
Hannah- "I am going to have a candy shop with ice cream and cupcakes. My kids will go to work with me."
Hailey- "your kids cant go to work with you, they will be bored. "
Hannah- "they can sit on a bench and they will be okay."
Life is so simple for little kids. I love listening to them talk about what they are going to do when they are older. We know they are going to live with us. Neither one is going to get married or have a husband, but somehow they do plan on having kids. Hmmmm, should I worry about that? LOL!

Fun times with Aunt Gloria
Last weekend Hannah got to go spend the night with her Aunt Gloria. She thought it was so cool to get to do something without her sister. She didn't even want to tell me goodbye. *sigh* She just kept telling me I could leave now. Crazy Girl! She is growing up to fast. I am not ready for this. She got to go on her first convertible ride in Grandma Kelly's VW Bug. She loved that. Check out her cool shades - she did not like the sun, so she got to wear some of Gloria's shades. She also got to go to Gloria's Dance class and the teacher let her dance with Gloria. I can't wait to see the pictures. Now, she is ready to take lessons herself. I have been trying to get one of the girls to take dance and they both shut me down. They love dancing and are always doing it. Finally one of them is going to try it out. Thank you Uncle Tim for doing this for her. She is super excited to get started.

Guess What...
HAILEY LOST HER FIRST TOOTH!!!
A month ago at a routine dentist appointment, we found out Hailey had two loose teeth. Come to find out, the permanent ones were already making their way out. This past Monday, I took her back to the dentist because the permanent tooth was really poking out and growing a little crooked. We are scheduled for the 29th of September to have her sedated and to have the two teeth removed. Now, we only have to have ONE removed. Thank goodness. If only that one could miraculously get loose and fall out before the 29th too. It would make the tooth fairy seem a lot cheaper. Right now I am looking at whatever the tooth fairy brings plus $140. Ugh!
Anyways, Hailey is super excited to have the tooth out, although she doesn't like the big red bloody blister sitting there. Hopefully it goes away quickly. I don't remember this part.
She stuck her tooth (in her special tooth tin) under her pillow and is ready to see what the tooth fairy leaves in exchange.
*Note* the tooth did not fall out on its own. Hailey has been wiggling it at school, and every night I put anbesol on her gums and wiggle it like crazy. Tonight Daddy decided he could pull it. He pulled and it loosened. I messed with it and made it start gushing blood, so daddy finished it off. Hailey did NOT like this part. She screamed and held the rag in her mouth for like 5 minutes. Hey, it is out, and the tooth fairy gets to come. That is what matters, right?

Potty Training
Who said Potty Training wasn't fun???? We have officially started the potty training process with Hayden. He is doing pretty good considering how crazy this boy is. We are still having plenty of accidents, but I am happy that we are using the potty many times as well. He loves sitting on his potty backwards. HA! It is pretty cute. This is the best potty ever for boys. He can sit forward or backward and the pee still goes IN the potty instead of everywhere else..... Potty Scotty is the BEST. The 2 in 1 training pants are great as well. He feels the mess, but the mess stays inside. :) Hayden gets to watch Disney Cars (his fav movie) every time he is sitting on his potty. It is the only way we have been able to get him to stay sitting down. He also gets a treat (his pick is a sucker) if he goes pee pee. I think my baby might get fat if we don't watch out. Good thing is, he doesn't always remember and trust me, I don't remind him. Although, we do have a sweet little girl, who likes to remind him. Hmmm, what am I going to do about her? Hopefully we can get this process mastered in the next month at the most. Do you think? We shall see.
