I am currently doing the single parent thing since Shane is out of town for business - it honestly isn't all that hard, but tonight I felt bad for sweet Hannah. With all the rain we started dinner early which led to early baths and everything else. By about 6:00 it felt like it was 8. Hailey finished up her Raz Kids and the kids were getting ready for bed by about 7:15. I decided to go ahead and get Hayden in bed so he could get some extra sleep. I sent Hannah in her room to read until I could read with her. After getting Hayden in bed, this is what I find. She was holding the book she wanted to read with me and fast asleep. Poor girl! She was obviously exhausted! I guess it was a good thing I put them to bed before 8 tonight.
AHHHHHH! SCARY!!
Saturday was a much more "relaxing" day than Friday. We woke up, ate breakfast, and the kids headed straight down to "seashell island". Shane was the man on kid duty at the island. The kids spent most of the morning at the island, playing baseball or running around the campsites. After lunch, Shane took all the kids to the park while everyone was getting situated to go camping. When we decided it was time to load up in the cars, I thought I was being helpful and loaded Sophie in her car seat (didn't shut the door), and then told Nick her buckle was stuck. Unfortunately my helping just made matters worse. He layed his keys down to buckle her and then shut the car door forgetting the keys were there. The doors automatically locked behind him, locking the poor girl in the car. They had to call a lock smith and spend a awful lot of money for the lady's 2 seconds of time she was there. Finally we were able to take the kids hiking and on a nature scavenger hut, which they all loved. Keri and I snuck out a little early to take Trinity and Hannah horseback riding. It was an hour long trail ride and Hannah was in heaven. She rode a horse named Diamond, and Trinity's was Hollywood. We had a Great Dinner of Fajitas, rice and beans, and of course more yummy smores. Amber brought all the kids pumpkin flashlights and I gave them glow necklaces and bracelets. We all sat around the campfire and played. Before leaving and bed, Sara and I started walking to take the girls to the bathroom, and Hayden was not happy. He ended up biting a hole in his glow stick and all the stuff went into his mouth making it glow. Shane freaked out when he saw his mouth and the guys all ran over making Hayden drink and spit water out. It turns out it isn't as big of a deal as we have heard in the past (not poisonous.) It was a little nerve racking that he fell asleep right after though. Since I was sick and everyone wanted to be warm we decided not to stay the second night. We left at 9:40 when everyone was getting ready for bed. We got home and got into our NICE and WARM beds. I hope the other three families slept as good as we did. The kids were so worn out they slept until 8:40 this morning. We had a great time, and so thankful for all the friends who went with us. The only downside is that we didn't get to spend much time with everyone. It was to chaotic just trying to keep up with the kids and everything.
