Today was a great day. We started off with a wonderful service at NorthWood Church, then we went and ate at a yummy Mexican Restaurant over near Southlake Town Center. After lunch we headed home for much needed Mothers Day Naps.

The kids all made me some sweet cards at school. I loved everyone of them. They made me so sad though. My babies are all growing up. I can't believe Hayden is almost three.

Tonight, we invited my good friend, Sarah, and her kids over for dinner. Her husband, Nick, was out of town, so we thought it would be fun to celebrate our special day together. Shane made PB&J for the kids, and Sarah and I made a celery/apple salad for us. We are on a special diet together, so it was fun getting to cook together. I was surprised how good the salad tasted. I was expecting it to be gross since I am not a big fan of celery. The kids had a good time playing together as usual. Sophia and Hayden got into a little trouble though. We lost them for a bit, and ended up finding them in a locked bathroom. They were playing in the toothpaste in our bathroom, and brushing their teeth with our tooth brushes. Yuck! So, 15 minutes later, guess where we find them this time? In the kids bathroom, once again playing in toothpaste and soap. Oh my. What are we going to do with this crazy 2 year olds?

Sleepover with Madison Flynt May 2010

Hailey's buddy Madison came over one Saturday afternoon for a play date/sleepover. Hailey has been wanting to have her over since she moved here in January. The first day Madison came to school, Hailey came home telling me all about the new friend she met. They have been good buddies ever since. The kids all played outside in the sprinkler for about 10 minutes until they decided that is was still too cold. :) Then they headed back in for some warmer playtime :) We took a trip to Micheal's craft store to pick out some fun crafts for the kids to do. They ended up buying stuff to make these signs for their rooms. They also decorated photo albums to put pictures of each other in - BFF. That night they watched a movie, and they read a chapter book together. They would stop and write down any word that they didn't know what it meant, and would come ask me. I am impressed. How many first graders do that? They had a lot of fun together. Madison is a really sweet girl, and I am so happy that her family moved here. Madison's mom and dad met us at church Sunday and after church she went back home.

Fireworks and New Friends

MidCities Fireworks

This year we decided to stay in and have some family time instead of going to a Fourth of July Event. Shane gave me some much needed relaxation time by taking the kids for the morning. They actually left at 11:30 and got back at almost 4. They went and helped daddy with some much needed Skate Jam preperations. They had a great time passing out flyers. The girls asked if they could go door to door at apartment complexes and hand them out. This was such a huge help for Shane. It might have taken longer with three tag alongs, but he was able to spend time with the kids and get stuff done for the event.

We also made our 4th of July cake today. The girls picked out a cherry cake mix. It was actually pretty darn good. They were especially proud of the cake. They called it our "Healthy 4th of July cake". Can it be considered healthy with the fruit on top? HAHA

After dinner we headed out to the Midcities firework display. Hannah and Hayden made new friends within the first ten minutes of being there. They are always so good at making new friends.

The fireworks were great and we had a great night together as a family. Happy 4th Everyone!!!

Sparklers

Sparklers!!

The kids were so excited. They love getting to light the sparklers. It is so simple, yet give huge pleasure :) We ended up letting them do about 3 boxes. We wanted to save the rest for another evening. At the end, Daddy had this "wise" plan of lighting all three at the same time and letting them have a sparkler parade. It sounds fun.... right WRONG!! Hayden was the last in line and shoeless. I bet you can guess what the rest of the story is... he stepped right on top of the hot sparklers that fell off the girls sticks. Ouch! He started screaming like crazy. Poor boy. We might have ruined the joy of sparklers for him for a while. We will see. His foot is fine by the way. It scared him more than anything.

4th of July 2010

All dressed up and ready to go to church at Northwood. The kids love going to church, and today we all dressed up in our Red, White, and Blue for Independance Day. Pastor Roberts led an amazing service as usual. I, personally, really enjoyed today alot. After church we went home, ate some lunch, and then Daddy and the girls headed off to Target for a special outing Hannah has had planned. She shared her Target gift card with Hailey and then they decided they wanted to help daddy pass out some more of his Skate Jam flyers. Sweet girls... they love helping out. When they got home, we played and then we did some much needed house work. Daddy grilled up some steaks and veggies for dinner, and had a surprise for the kids after bath time.
